Acknowledge This! the workshop

Ditch the script!

Many organisations, schools and people are delivering Acknowledgements of Country without truly understanding why.

Because of this, most people who deliver an Acknowledgement read from a script, ad lib one they've heard elsewhere or, worst case scenario, treat it as a "tick box" part of housekeeping. This tokenistic presentation defeats the purpose of Acknowledgements which are meant to make you feel connected to each other, country and culture.

Acknowledge This! is a fun and interactive training workshop on how to deliver an authentic Acknowledgement of Country.

We provide people with the foundations to create a genuine and authentic Acknowledgement, focussing on the place, people and position you're in. We'll teach you how to articulate it (the words), and how to make it personal and authentic to you (and to your organisation, if relevant). We also cover off on the challenges of delivering an Acknowledgement, common questions and fears; and offer a simple structure to start building your own authentic Acknowledgement.

Outcomes of the training are:

  • A deeper understanding of Acknowledgement of Country

  • A deeper understanding of the purpose of each part of an Acknowledgement of Country

  • Developing a personalised Acknowledgement of Country format to adapt for any gatherings where you want to acknowledge our shared history and place

We can deliver Acknowledge This! online, in-person or with hybrid audiences. Over the past few years we’ve navigated a variety of different set-ups to achieve maximum connection within the group. Look forward to discussing and designing for your needs!

Read our impact report!

At the three year mark we decided to look back and ask some of our ongoing clients about their experience implementing the Acknowledge This! workshop in their organisation. This is a helpful resource for building a business case to run the workshop at your organisation.
